Planting and Care

  • Transplanting:  plant seedlings outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed.
  • Spacing: Space plants about 12 inches apart to allow for their spreading nature.
  • Watering: Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Thyme is drought-tolerant once established.
  • Fertilization: Minimal fertilization is needed; an application of compost in the spring is usually sufficient.
  • Pruning: Trim regularly to maintain shape and encourage bushy growth.
  • Harvesting: leaves as needed for culinary use.
