Give God the Little Pieces

Give God the Little Pieces

At the beginning of the garden season, I started some sunflowers. Unfortunately, I got busy when they popped up and missed giving them the care they needed. My neglect of these plants — my favorite flower, at that — resulted in all but one of them dying, and the one that I salvaged was barely holding on.

I was going to throw it out and not bother. But something in me, what I firmly believe was a nudge from God, said to give it a shot.

“It won’t make a difference, it’s so small, it’s so wilted, it can’t possibly survive the heat of the summer or produce anything,” I reasoned.

And I remembered a message God has repeated over me several times the last couple of years: “Give me your little, broken, and barely surviving, and I will return to you life and life abundant.”

So I planted this barely alive flower in a pot and told the Creator to do His thing. That sunflower grew to almost 7 feet tall and was vibrant, full of life. The other day it was ready to harvest.

As I collected the seeds, I was astonished at how something almost dead still produced so many seeds. How a flower that was birthed from one seed alone would in turn birth possibly a hundred more (if I don’t eat them all, of course 😅).

And as I stood in my kitchen laughing, I heard God say, “I told you to give me your little and I would in turn give you much.” And those reading this that have been in church with me the last year or so know that God has done this in a lot of ways for me already. I have gotten more than one “I told you so” from God — but oh how I love it when He says it.

I hope this message gives you the courage to give God your little and your broken. He will take care of it, no matter how small. And I pray that you get your “I told you so,” because God is faithful with His promises, when we let Him do His thing.
